PELION SYSTEMS RECEIVES RECOGNITION AT APICS 2005
Pelion Systems and its corporate customer Husqvarna Turf Care selected as 2005 Technology Partnership Award of Excellence Runners-up
Boulder, Colo. – November 10, 2005 – - Pelion Systems, the market leader in Manufacturing Process Optimization (MPO) solutions, has announced that along with its client, Husqvarna Turf Care, a member of the Electrolux Group, it has been selected against noteworthy competition as the 2005 Technology Partnership Award of Excellence Runners-up for its significant contributions and performance excellence in the field of operations management.
This award recognizes a partnership between a technical solution provider and a corporate customer where the product has dramatically increased manufacturing success. Pelion’s corporate customer Husqvarna Turf Care, an international manufacturer of riding mowers and other grounds-care equipment was recognized for its significant productivity and cost improvements.
Husqvarna’s executive management supported Lean manufacturing concepts and called on Pelion Systems and its Manufacturing Process Optimization software to help the company implement demand-driven manufacturing and supply network principles.
“We’re very excited that Pelion is recognized by such a prestigious operations management association like APICS as an innovative technology leader for demand-driven manufacturing and supply chain optimization solutions,” said Rich Sherman, SVP of Marketing for Pelion. “Pelion provides a true ‘virtual factory’ platform that enables manufacturers to synchronize production and distribution operations globally while optimizing schedules locally to reflect the unique characteristics of each facility.”
By using Pelion Systems’ Manufacturing Process Optimization solutions, Husqvarna’s Beatrice, Nebraska facility demonstrated sufficient productivity and cost improvements enabling management to convince corporate (Electrolux Group) to grow manufacturing operations in Nebraska and build a new facility, rather than transfer operations to Mexico.
APICS, The Association for Operations Management is the global leader and premier source of the body of knowledge in operations management, including production, inventory, supply chain, materials management, purchasing and logistics. Since 1957, individuals and companies have relied on APICS for its superior training, internationally recognized certifications, comprehensive resources and worldwide network of accomplished industry professionals.
In addition to recognition by APICS, Pelion Systems’ Rich Sherman was recently honored on the DC Velocity 2005 Rainmakers List for a demonstrated track record of achievement that has distinguished him among supply chain professionals throughout his career.
